ZitatAbout 2,500 people attended the memorial service at the Wickaninnish Community School in Tofino on Saturday, Nov. 6, for Jo-Ann Fuller and Ivan Polivka, the two paramedics who died when their ambulance left the road and crashed into Kennedy Lake on Highway 4 in the early hours of Oct. 19. The procession included an honour guard with a pipe band and hundreds of emergency personnel and police officers.
ZitatAn ambulance headed back to Tofino from Port Alberni is submerged in Kennedy Lake with two attendants believed to be on board.
“We believe its two ambulance personnel,” Port Alberni Sgt. Kevin Murray said Tuesday morning.
The ambulance was reported missing at 7:30 a.m. after it left West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni three hours earlier. The ambulance was heading back to its primary station in Tofino.
