More than 80 Alberta vehicles have been impounded under stricter speed regulations that came into effect in British Columbia on Sept. 20.

Many Alberta drivers don't realize that under the new rules, if they're caught going more than 40 km/h over the speed limit on B.C. highways, their vehicles are impounded for a week and they face a fine of $368 to $483, in addition to a towing and storage fees.

"The police have absolutely no discretion when it comes to charging anyone over that 40 kilometres, plus a couple of miles for the error rate, and then all of a sudden now your car is gone for seven days," Columbia Valley RCMP Staff Sgt. Marko Shehovac said.

RCMP staff see Albertans speeding to their B.C. cabins regularly, Shehovac said. "A lot of passing on double solids, passing unsafe, a lot of high speeds," he said.

Also ich fahre regelmaessig von AB nach BC. (Zwischen Banff und Panorama) Immer die selbe Strecke auf der 93 durch den Kooteney Natl Park.

Ich hab ne AB Autonummer. Werde mehr acht geben jetzt. Nicht das die mir irgendwann mein Auto abnehmen Aber im Natl Park oder auch ausserhalb fahr ich eh nicht so schnell.

Da sind soooooo viele Autos die mich ueberholen die haben meistens AB oder BC plates. Was passiert denn den Leuten von BC wenn die 40kmH zu schnell sind?? nix??? oder nur ne Strafe???

Tja die Raser und Fahrer mit etwas zuviel Alkohol im Blut sind in BC nun "versorgt". Ich frage mich schon seit 5 Jahren was die Polizei/Regierung gegen all die Fahrer machen will, die sich im Fahrzeug an der Ampel mal schnell nen Joint drehen....

Frag mal lieber, warum in D für Trucks keine Winterreifenpflicht eingeführt wurde. Die müssen nur auf der Antriebsachse welche haben. Auf den anderen sind die Sommer-Slicks drauf. So macht fahren oder rutschen spaß.

Demnaechst solls ja in Alberta noch ein weiteres Gesetz geben welches beim Autofahren einiges Verbietet.
