"The strange case of Dr. Ciaran McNamee didn't quite fit with the conspiracy charges that rebel MLA Raj Sherman hurled at Alberta's Progressive Conservative government last week. But the CBC's unsettling revelation Thursday evening of Dr. McNamee's 2000 lawsuit against Alberta's Capital Health Authority -allegations he had been intimidated and his career sabotaged for speaking out for patients -landed on the legislature like a bombshell just the same. All four opposition parties, as well as Dr. Sherman, a Tory outcast now independent, stood up in a joint press conference Friday to demand of the government an independent, public and sweeping inquiry, with the teeth of judicial authority, into the mismanagement of Alberta's health-care system."
