The oil boomtown of Calgary is currently experiencing a crime surge, one made worse by a shortage of police officers.

"We've called a number of investigators back from their holidays," Deputy Police Chief Peter Davison said on Sunday.
The Calgary service is short about 120 beat cops in a city where virtually every business and institution is suffering from a shortage of workers.
"Fortunately we're able to get every available member to come out and investigate, but it certainly is a challenging time," said Staff Sgt. Keith Cain.
