Wer noch einen Wintertip braucht, der kann sich ja mal dies hier genauer anschauen.
ZitatDear Sir/Madam
I am writing today to re-introduce you to the Cariboo Challenge Sled Dog Race - Home of the Jack Gawthorn Memorial Cup.
This year’s 17th Annual race event is being held on January 19th & 20th, 2008 at the Hills Health Ranch near 100 Mile House, BC. Our event has the honor of being the second oldest sled dog race still running in the province and only one of five (of 20) remaining on the BC circuit.
Last year’s event drew 28 teams, in spite of our having no purse money and by all accounts was a resounding success. With entrants coming from as far away as Oregon, Washington state and eastern Canada as well as all over BC and Alberta - the event was truly of an international flavor and introduced, as we do every year, many people to the South Cariboo.
We are currently fundraising for this annual event - with the hope that we will be able to raise the purse once again and encourage more participation from dog drivers and teams. Our venue is known in the sled dog racing world to be the best in the country for safety and general conditions, and our community is recognized as being very friendly and welcoming. Each year we draw not only dog drivers and teams, but also media & many tourists come to see a sport and an event only seen in rare locations.
As a result of favorable weather, friendly people and diverse all season possibilities several new ‘mushing’ families have relocated to the Cariboo region bringing with them years of mushing expertise, businesses, employment and year round tourism & business dollars.
Your previous support of this family fun filled event has been greatly appreciated and invaluable in assisting us with raising funds for the event.
I would like to invite and welcome you to take part (again) by donating an item for our silent auction - which is our only means of raising the funds to continue to put on the event. Some of the funds raised go toward making equipment upgrades for safety on the trail, purse money and also helps us to fund the next years race.
I am hoping we may count on your support this year.
This year we are changing our format slightly to include not only 4, 6, & 8 dog open & purebred classes - novice & pro level ski-joring, a Kid n’ Mutt demo for local children who may wish to participate and a winter carnival.
