The number of Windsorites unemployed in March increased to 24,000 from 22,300, according to Stats Can, as Windsor's rate increased from 12.6 per cent.
It's the highest unemployment rate recorded in Windsor since Feb. 1993 when the rate reached 14 per cent.
Nationally, the economy shed 61,000 jobs.
Elsewhere in Ontario, the unemployment rates were led by St. Catharines at 9.5 per cent followed by Kitchener at 9.1, Toronto and Hamilton both at 8.8 per cent, London at 8.4, Oshawa at 8.3, Sudbury and Thunder Bay at 7.9, Kingston at 5.0 and Ottawa at 4.6.
Nationally, the lowest rate was recorded in Regina and Quebec City at 3.9 per cent.
