A major fire hit the south part of Halifax today devastating numerous houses and caused widespread evacuation of nearby residents. As this webcam shows the fires are close to downtown emitting smoke plumes visible from afar. The cause of the fires is still unknown but witnesses report the multiple appearance of fires (seemingly unrelated?), or that what it looked like. Halifax is surrounded by wooded areas, but despite the snow, rain and fog hot dry south wind has created an abnormal condition conductive to this kind of disaster. Some may shrug off reports and general development of strange weather patterns but for some longterm observers the trend of erratic weather (not necessary warmer) is obvious.
