Na dann freu ich mich mal richtig auf unseren Urlaub..vieleicht legen wir uns für später auch ein kleines Grundstück zu...mit Blockhäuschen ,vieleicht gibts dort auch Angebote als Bäcker..und werd vom Fleck weg arangiert.... nur mein englisch müßt ich mal verbessern oder auffrischen...

Maritimes universities face tough test

University enrolment in the Maritimes is tipped to drop by 10 per cent in the next decade as job opportunities, inter-province education and the rising cost of tuition continue to cut in.

The Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission reported today that some very real challenges lie ahead for the sector.

A decrease in the overall university-age population is expected to exacerbate the social and economic hurdles, the group says.

“Accountng solely for the demographic decline, undergraduate enrolment could decline by as much as 10 per cent between 2008 and 2018,” the report states.

Enrolment for undergraduate degrees in the Maritimes reached an all-time high in 2004-05. Two years on, it has dropped below levels before that peak.

The report says a number of factors have influences the change:

Numbers of younger students began to decline after 2003-04, but the overall effect was offset by an influx of students from Ontario's ‘double cohort' year.

Enrolment of students straight out of high school has now dropped below numbers from the turn of the century.

Tuition fees in the region have also taken a slice out of sign-ups, which the commission says may explain the massive exodus of Maritime students heading to the Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Average tuition fees in the Maritimes rose 41 per cent between 2000-01 and 2006-07, the report says.

Yet while university enrolments are slipping, the need for community college education is booming, with enrolments there up 21 per cent in Nova Scotia and 5 per cent in New Brunswick since 2000.

In all, the Maritimes is losing university-aged residents to outward-migration at the highest rate since 1998.

ich glaube es war 96 Anfang mitte September, ich hatte nicht viel Urlaub gehabt in diesem Jahr und war schon mehrmals im Westen gewesen.
Hatte ein paar Zeilen über Nova Scotia gelesen also, ist ja nicht sehr groß
und ich konnte nur 10 Tage, nix wie hin.
Es wurde einer meiner schönsten Spontanurlaube, zurzeit des Indianersommers mit diesen fantastischen Farben, Cabot Trail die schönste Küstenstrasse Nordamerikas . Ich spüre es heute noch
den sanften wind von Seeseite, Cape North ect..
........ich fand tiefen inneren Frieden 10 Tage lang...... wirklich nichts für
Hektiker, aber Labsaal für die Seele. Warum lebe ich eigentlich nicht dort
annsusann hast noch nen Flecken Platz?
.... aber wie schon von anderen erwähnt ....pssst sagts nich weiter
