Fido und Rogers sind wohl ähnlich - aber Richtung Whitehorse wirst du mit beiden nichts mehr anfangen können...

Zu Fido...
Schau mal unter "Terms & Conditions" auf der gleichen Seite nach - da steht:
"All options include on-device mobile browsing, excluding tethering (use as wireless modem) on select Fido certified devices"...
Ist "on-device mobile browsing" mit unserem WAP-Internet zu vergleichen?
Und untersagt "excluding tethering" die Anbindung von externen Geräten - wie z.B. dem Notebook?

In Deutschland gibt es auch preiswerte Monatsflats, die aber nur mit dem Handy oder Smartphone genutzt werden dürfen... Vielleicht ist das Fido-Angebot vergleichbar?
Das "$7 for 125 MB Data Week Pass" ist wohl nur für den BlackBerry - also auch kein Surfen mit dem Notebook...

Schade, dass es niemanden im Forum gibt, der es mal mit Fido probiert hat!

Ich geb´s langsam auf - werde mir ab und an die Mails per Roaming runterladen...

Die Mobilfunk verhältnisse in Kanada sind eigentlich eh bekannt. Wenn man im Busch einen empfang haben will geht sowieso nur BGAN.

Ich rede nicht vom Busch sondern von kleinen Städten, Dörfern, etc. Ich hatte nicht mal Empfang obwohl ich die Rogers Antenne sogar sehen konnte.
Bell und Telus sind besser. Und auch der Kundenservice bei Rogers und Fido ist totaler mist.

Was für mich wichtig ist was ich nutzen kann.

Dann müssen wir das Rad nicht neu entdecken und wissen direkt woran wir sind...

Hattest du einen Vertrag mit Bell oder Telus abgeschlossen oder eine prepaid-Karte von denen?
Direkt vor Ort oder Zuhause über´s Internet bestellt / abgeschlossen?
Was für Internetpakete bieten denn die beiden Provider an?
Zugang nur auf WAP-Seiten oder vollen Zugriff mit dem Handy als Modem?

Vielleicht hast du ein paar Links - dann müssen wir nicht suchen...

nein ich war nie bei Bell oder Telus. Aber ich kenne Leute die bei Bell oder Telus waren und wenn ich mit denen unterwegs war, hatten die immer Empfang während ich mit meinem Rogers blöd da stand. Und ich benutze mein Handy nur für das was es erfunden wurde: Zum telefonieren. Kann also nichts zum Internet sagen.

Und ja Bell's abdeckung sieht vielleicht nicht anderst aus als bei Rogers, aber wenigstens hält sie was sie verspricht. Laut der coverage map bei Rogers müsste das gesamte Bulkley Valley abgedeckt sein, aber ich hatte dort außer direkt in Smithers nirgendwo empfang. Außerdem bietet Bell auch coverage im Norden.

Schade... Hatte gehofft mehr erfahren zu können...

Das eigentliche Problem ist ja auch nicht die Netzabdeckung, sondern:
-ob man ohne festen Wohnsitz in Canada überhaupt von einem dortigen Provider als Kunde angenommen wird
-welche Provider Prepaidkarten mit (echten) Internet-Flats zu einem akzeptablen Preis anbieten.

Aber es schaut wohl so aus, als ob da niemand wirklich anhand Erfahrungen berichten kann...

lol sorry du wirst nie eine Flat finden selbst in Deutschland oder Österreich haben sie ne grenze bei Prepaid.

Eine Flat mit 1 GB Datenvolumen wäre ja schon der Knaller... Aber das, was ich bis jetzt so entdeckt habe, ist nicht der Knaller... Und nen Blackberry kaufe ich mir jetzt nicht extra
